Lahore Qalandars have confirmed an internal disciplinary action following a reported breach of security protocol involving team players during the ongoing Pakistan Super League season.

In an official statement released on Tuesday, the franchise said it had conducted a thorough internal review into an incident that allegedly took place at the team hotel on March 28. While acknowledging that an incident did occur, the management maintained that it had been “overstated in public discourse” and amplified beyond its actual context.

As part of its disciplinary measures, Lahore Qalandars imposed a fine of PKR 1 million on captain Shaheen Shah Afridi for his involvement. The franchise described the step as “voluntary and proactive,” aimed at maintaining discipline and demonstrating accountability.

The team also confirmed that a detailed report, along with its observations, had been formally shared with the Pakistan Cricket Board for further review.

Despite the controversy, Lahore Qalandars emphasised that the matter stemmed from a misunderstanding rather than any deliberate attempt to violate established security procedures. The franchise reiterated its commitment to strict adherence to standard operating protocols (SOPs) and stressed the need for clearer communication of such guidelines to prevent similar incidents in the future.

The statement also acknowledged the role of security personnel, thanking them for their efforts in ensuring a safe environment for players, officials, and fans.

Expressing concern over the widespread attention the incident received, the franchise noted that the situation had adversely affected the reputation of both the team and the PSL at domestic and international levels. It urged for balanced and responsible reporting moving forward.

Reaffirming its commitment to professionalism and cooperation with governing authorities, Lahore Qalandars concluded by stating that it would not be issuing any further comments on the matter.
