Pakistan batter Fakhar Zaman has attributed his success in finals to spending time at the crease, emphasising the importance of adapting to match situations and handling pressure.

Speaking exclusively on the programme Straight Drive with Salman Butt, Fakhar discussed his century in the final against Sri Lanka, explaining how he adjusted his approach after Pakistan lost two early wickets.

“Pressure is always higher in finals, so it is important to bat according to the situation,” Fakhar said, adding that his usual role is to bat aggressively and make things easier for the batters coming in later.

However, following the early setbacks against Sri Lanka, Fakhar decided to spend more time at the crease rather than continue with his usual aggressive approach.

Fakhar also praised young batter Saad Baig for his positive and attacking start, saying his approach helped reduce the pressure at the other end.

“When you are not scoring runs, positive batting from the other end can be very helpful,” he said.

The left-handed batter also highlighted the importance of the team management and captain showing confidence in their players, particularly the younger members of the squad.

Fakhar praised the youngsters for displaying an impressive fighting spirit throughout the tri-series, noting that their performances under difficult circumstances had also boosted the confidence of senior players.

He expressed satisfaction that the young players had not only performed well individually but had also played important roles in securing victories for the team.

Fakhar’s remarks underline the importance of composure, adaptability and collective effort in delivering performances under pressure, particularly in high-stakes matches such as tournament finals.
