A composed half-century from Steve Smith and a match-defining spell by Mohammad Nawaz guided Multan Sultans to a comfortable six-wicket victory over Quetta Gladiators in the 13th match of the Pakistan Super League 2026 at Gaddafi Stadium.

After winning the toss, Multan opted to bowl first — a decision that paid immediate dividends as Quetta’s top order faltered under pressure. Early strikes left the Gladiators reeling, with Khawaja Nafay managing just 12 and Shamil Hussain dismissed for a mere 2 runs.

Amid the collapse, Saud Shakeel stood tall with a composed 56 off 41 balls, anchoring the innings and preventing a complete batting meltdown. However, regular breakthroughs from Multan’s bowling attack, led by Nawaz, kept Quetta from building any substantial partnerships. Nawaz’s disciplined spell of 3 wickets proved decisive, earning him the Player of the Match award.

Chasing a modest total, Multan Sultans approached the target with calm authority. Steve Smith once again showcased his class, crafting a fluent 53 off 35 balls. His innings blended precision and control, ensuring there were no hiccups in the chase.

With support from the middle order, Multan comfortably reached the target with wickets in hand, sealing a six-wicket win and continuing their strong campaign.

This victory lifts Multan Sultans to the top of the points table, marking a strong comeback after their previous defeat. For Quetta Gladiators, however, concerns remain as their inconsistent batting continues to undermine their performances in the tournament.

As the Pakistan Super League 2026 progresses, Multan appear to be building momentum, while Quetta will need to regroup quickly to stay in contention.
