Lahore: The Pakistan Football League (PFL) has announced a landmark alliance with Dream Sports Group (DSG) to spearhead the development of football stadiums nationwide. The partnership aims to address one of the biggest challenges facing football in Pakistan — the lack of FIFA-standard venues.
For decades, Pakistan’s football has struggled due to inadequate infrastructure, with only a limited number of stadiums meeting basic standards. Through the PFL Dream Sports alliance, both organisations plan to build and upgrade sports venues across the country, laying the groundwork for a stronger football ecosystem and long-term revival of the sport.
Welcoming the initiative, Chairman of the Pakistan Football League, Farhan Ahmed Junejo, said the vision behind the project has always been to empower young talent and provide opportunities at both local and international levels.
“Since launching the Pakistan Football League in 2024, our mission has been to serve the dreams of millions of passionate fans and aspiring players,” he said. “We want to ensure that the talented youth of Pakistan are not left behind in pursuing their dreams of representing the country.”
He further highlighted that the delay in launching Pakistan’s inaugural football league has largely been due to the absence of proper infrastructure.
“While everyone eagerly awaits the launch of Pakistan's inaugural football league, the delay has primarily been due to lack of stadiums and grounds. This is why we have partnered with DSG to strengthen the existing infrastructure. The revival of football in Pakistan is no longer a distant aspiration — a new era is just around the corner,” he added.
Chairman of Dream Sports Group, Qaiser Baryar, described the partnership as a “game changer” for the sport in Pakistan. “Joining hands with the Pakistan Football League is a defining moment in our mission to revive football in Pakistan. This alliance is not just about building stadiums — it is about building dreams,” he said.
According to DSG, the project aims to establish 100 world-class sports grounds across Pakistan by 2028, providing young athletes with access to professional-level facilities and creating a pathway for talent development.
The initiative is also expected to include the development of football academies, which will serve as training hubs for aspiring players and contribute to the long-term growth of the sport.
Officials noted that Pakistan will soon witness the rise of several modern football stadiums and academies under this initiative, helping to transform the country’s sporting landscape.
The Pakistan Football League is also expected to announce key leadership appointments in the coming weeks, along with further developments related to the league’s launch. These steps are aimed at strengthening the organisational structure and ensuring that the revival of football in Pakistan is backed by strong leadership and global standards.
