Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Mohsin Naqvi, officially inaugurated the Ghani Lahore School Cricket Cup 2025 at the Ghani Institute of Cricket in Defence, Lahore.
As part of the opening ceremony, the PCB Chairman met and encouraged players from the top eight school teams participating in the tournament, urging them to compete with passion and discipline.
Mohsin Naqvi extended heartfelt congratulations to the Ghani Institute of Cricket and its team for organizing this initiative with PCB’s support. He emphasized the importance of such tournaments in discovering young cricketing talent at the grassroots level.
In a major announcement, Chairman Naqvi declared cash rewards for top performers across multiple categories including Best Batter, Best Bowler, Best All-Rounder, and Best Wicketkeeper. PCB, he assured, will fully support and recognize these outstanding school-level players.
As per the prize structure revealed:
The winning school team will receive PKR 1 million (10 lakh)
The runner-up team will receive PKR 500,000 (5 lakh)
In a move to add grandeur to the event, the semi-finals and finals of the tournament will be held at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore — a rare opportunity for school students to play at the country’s most iconic cricket ground.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mohsin Naqvi highlighted the need to educate young players about fitness, diet, and discipline from an early age to groom them for national-level cricket.
Chairman Ghani Institute of Cricket, Anwar Ghani, also revealed that a new cricket club is being set up in Islamabad soon to further expand this vision.
The event was also attended by PCB Director Domestic Cricket Abdullah Khurram Niazi, Wahab Riaz, and senior officials from the Ghani Institute of Cricket.
