Pakistan clinches World Youth Scrabble Team Championship for the seventh time

NAIROBI: Pakistan produced a dominant performance at the 21st World Youth Scrabble Championship in Nairobi, winning the global team title for a record seventh time.

The Pakistani contingent emerged as the most successful team at the championship, collecting the highest number of trophies across different categories. Pakistan finished first in the team event, with India securing second place and Nigeria finishing third.

In the individual championship, Australia’s Dhineth Fernando claimed the overall world title, while three Pakistani players managed to finish among the top 10.

Pakistan also enjoyed remarkable success in the age-group competitions. Ahmed Salman was crowned Under-16 world champion, while Ahed Soulat Fatemi won the Under-14 title.

The youngest member of Pakistan’s squad, Taimur Wasim, became the Under-10 world champion. Taimur continued his impressive run after winning the Under-8 world title last year.

Pakistan’s players also dominated several other statistical categories. Ayan Hassan Khan earned the distinction of playing the highest-scoring word of the championship, while Azam Siddiqui recorded the highest score in a single match.

The 21st World Youth Scrabble Championship featured 183 players from 11 countries, with Pakistan once again underlining its status as one of the leading nations in youth Scrabble.
