LAHORE: Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board, Mohsin Naqvi, met members of Pakistan’s national hockey team in Lahore, where players briefed him about the unpleasant incidents they faced during the Pro Hockey League.

During the meeting, the hockey players highlighted issues of mistreatment and administrative shortcomings that occurred during the league. Expressing regret over the alleged unfair treatment of the players, Naqvi assured them that they would be fully accommodated and supported in every possible way.

“You focus only on the game. Pakistan’s honor comes first,” Naqvi told the players, reaffirming his commitment to safeguarding the country’s dignity on the international stage. “We will not allow the nation’s prestige to be compromised under any circumstances.”

The PCB chairman announced a series of immediate measures to facilitate the team ahead of the upcoming World Cup Qualifier tournament in Egypt. He directed officials to arrange air tickets, playing kits, and hotel accommodations for the squad without delay. Naqvi also ordered that a national training camp be set up starting tomorrow, with instructions to complete all logistical arrangements by tonight.

In a significant relief for injured players, Naqvi instructed that their medical treatment be arranged promptly under the supervision and expense of the PCB.

Furthermore, he handed over previously announced cheques of Rs1 million each to the players for finishing as runners-up in the six-nation national hockey tournament, recognizing their performance and boosting morale ahead of the crucial qualifiers.

The hockey players expressed gratitude to Naqvi for meeting them and for his encouragement and assurances of institutional support during a challenging time.

The developments signal a renewed administrative push to streamline hockey affairs and ensure better coordination and backing for the national team as it prepares for key international assignments.
