Former Indian pacer Munaf Patel has made headlines by declaring that Shoaib Akhtar’s bowling speed is something the cricketing world may never see again — especially from an Asian fast bowler.
In a recent interview, Munaf reflected on Akhtar’s 15-year career, praising the Pakistani legend for consistently bowling at speeds of 150–155 kmph, often in challenging Asian conditions.

“He has lost both of his knees. He can’t even walk properly now. But for 14–15 years, Shoaib Akhtar kept running in from outside the 30-yard circle and bowled at 150 kmph,” Munaf said.
“That kind of madness… only he had it. No one else can do what he did.”

Shoaib Akhtar bowling speed still unmatched
Munaf emphasized that the combination of intensity, physical toll, and longevity makes Shoaib Akhtar’s bowling speed a near-mythical achievement in world cricket.
“No one has come, and no one will come, who can bowl like him in these conditions. I guarantee it.”
Akhtar, who holds the record for the fastest delivery in cricket history (161.3 kmph), has become a symbol of raw pace and mental tenacity. According to Munaf, the price Akhtar paid — with both knees now damaged beyond repair — highlights the extreme toll of such high-speed bowling.
“It’s not just fitness — it’s obsession, madness. That’s what made Shoaib different.”
