Former Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir shared a blunt assessment of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 final, suggesting that poor bowling from New Zealand national cricket team played a key role in helping India national cricket team secure the title.

Speaking after the final, Amir said New Zealand’s bowlers appeared to lose control under pressure, repeatedly bowling wides and loose deliveries that were punished by the Indian batters.

“Credit goes to New Zealand’s bowling for India’s win,” Amir remarked. “They were bowling wides and those same balls were getting hit for sixes.”

The former left-arm fast bowler also questioned New Zealand’s bowling strategy during the high-pressure match, pointing out the constant rotation of bowlers.

“The constant change of bowlers was strange. I’ve never seen New Zealand under this much pressure,” he added.

Amir also made it clear that India’s triumph had nothing to do with him personally, dismissing suggestions linking his opinions to the result.

“I’ve nothing to do with their win. They’ll take the trophy to their home, not mine. Well played,” he concluded.

India’s victory in the final cemented their dominance in the shortest format of the game, as they successfully defended their title and further strengthened their reputation as one of the strongest T20 sides in modern cricket.
