Pakistan cricket has been thrust into fresh controversy after former cricketer Abdur Rouf Khan raised alarming concerns over the injury status of star batter Babar Azam and the alleged lack of transparency within the system.

In a strongly worded post on social media, Abdur Rouf Khan claimed that Babar Azam’s injury situation is becoming increasingly serious. He further alleged that injuries may have been concealed during the ICC Cricket World Cup—a claim that has sparked intense debate.

According to Khan, the selection committee is now considering an inquiry into players over the alleged concealment of injuries, a development that could carry serious consequences if substantiated.

The comments come in the aftermath of Pakistan’s defeat against Bangladesh, after which discussions around player fitness and internal management have gained momentum.

Khan also questioned the role of the Pakistan Cricket Board’s medical panel, criticizing its silence amid growing speculation. He emphasized that it is the board’s responsibility to provide clear updates on players’ injuries, fitness levels, rehabilitation, and workload management.

He urged the PCB to publicly clarify which players are fit for specific formats, arguing that transparency is essential to end speculation and restore trust among fans.

As pressure mounts, the PCB faces increasing calls to address the situation and provide a clear stance on player fitness, as concerns continue to grow over both accountability and the global image of Pakistan cricket.
