MADRID: Atlético Madrid have reportedly made their stance clear on Julián Álvarez, insisting there is “0% chance” of the Argentine forward being sold to Barcelona.
According to a statement attributed to an Atlético spokesperson and cited by Spanish media, the Madrid club believes it has been unfairly targeted in the ongoing controversy surrounding Álvarez.
“The player is being victimized, but the only victim of the Julián case is Atlético,” the spokesperson reportedly said, accusing Barcelona of causing both economic and social harm to the club.
Atlético also stressed that the dispute is “not about money, it’s about dignity,” while claiming that a campaign containing “lies and half-truths” has been created around the situation.
Spanish outlet Cadena SER has further reported that Atlético are preparing to take the next step in their legal case against Barcelona. The club is expected to incorporate evidence and assess what it describes as pressure placed on Álvarez by the Catalan side.
With tensions escalating, Atlético appear determined to prevent any potential move to Barcelona and are preparing for a further legal battle over the matter.
