“Who Created This Team?” Rashid Latif blasts Pakistan cricket authorities over mid-series axe

Former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif has strongly criticised the Pakistan cricket authorities for their handling of the team during the ongoing England series, accusing them of creating a bigger crisis while attempting to manage an existing one.

Reacting to the latest developments, Latif said the situation had gone from headlines about a poor Pakistan side and the “weakest Pakistan team” to further embarrassment after seven players were reportedly sent back midway through the series.

Latif questioned the decision to remove players that included the current T20 captain, a former captain and a player who had just taken five wickets, along with others who had not featured in the series.

He also expressed disappointment that the changes had left behind two greats of Pakistan cricket, a World Cup winner and a Champions Trophy winner.

“Is this the way that we treat former international players and our current players?” Latif questioned.

While acknowledging that Pakistan’s performances had been poor, Latif asked who was responsible for creating the squad in the first place.

He further criticised the authorities, saying those who created the team were now the same people punishing it, and warned: “Life is a circle. Today you disrespect someone, it will come back to you.”
