Former Indian international umpire Anil Chaudhary has declared Usman Tariq’s bowling action legal, dismissing concerns over its unusual style after reviewing a video of the delivery.

In his assessment, Chaudhary acknowledged that Tariq’s action appears slightly side-on and includes a noticeable pause, making it look different from conventional bowling techniques. However, he emphasized that variation in style does not automatically mean illegality.

“His action is slightly side-on and a bit different, and he bowls with a slight pause. But since he delivers all his balls in the same manner, and there is no bending and straightening of the arm as per the guidelines, the action is absolutely fine,” Chaudhary said.

The former umpire further stressed that the key factor in judging bowling legality is consistency and adherence to ICC arm-extension rules, both of which Tariq appears to satisfy.

“It is different, but he delivers all balls in the same way. In my opinion, his action is fair, and this is a fair delivery,” he added.

Chaudhary’s statement may help ease growing scrutiny and debate around Usman Tariq’s bowling mechanics, offering reassurance to fans, officials, and cricketing authorities regarding the legitimacy of his action.
