Salman Ali Agha fitness scare raises concern during Asia Cup 2025 training session

Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha caused a stir in the cricketing circles on Wednesday after a minor fitness scare during training ahead of Pakistan’s Asia Cup 2025 opener against Oman.

The Salman Ali Agha fitness scare came to light when he skipped most of the team’s training at the ICC Academy in Dubai due to a neck spasm. He was spotted with a bandage around his neck and refrained from participating in regular drills and football warm-up sessions, instead watching cautiously from the sidelines.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) clarified that the situation is not serious and that the decision to rest the captain was precautionary. “Salman is recovering from a mild spasm and will be back to training shortly,” the PCB media manager said.

Despite the Salman Ali Agha fitness scare, the team management remains hopeful that the skipper will be fully fit for the remainder of the Asia Cup 2025, including the much-anticipated clash against India on Sunday.

Pakistan heads into the tournament after a strong performance in the recent tri-nation series, where they defended a modest 142-run target against Afghanistan in the final at Sharjah, dismissing them for just 66.

Salman Ali Agha’s availability will be crucial as Pakistan opens their Asia Cup 2025 campaign against Oman at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Friday.
