Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2025 begins as Sialkot aims to defend title in high-stakes first-class season
LAHORE: The Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2025, Pakistan’s premier red-ball cricket tournament, is set to bowl off on Monday, 6 October, across five venues in four cities. Defending champions Sialkot will open their title defence in a rematch against Peshawar, the same side they narrowly defeated by one wicket in last year’s tense final.
This year’s Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2025 brings a total prize purse of PKR 13.775 million, with PKR 7.5 million for the winner and PKR 4 million for the runners-up. For the first time ever, a Player of the Match award worth PKR 25,000 will be given in each league fixture, with the Player of the Final taking home PKR 100,000. Awards of PKR 250,000 each will also go to the best batter, bowler, wicket-keeper, and player of the tournament.

The action will unfold across 46 matches, with two games in each round live-streamed on the PCB’s YouTube channel, including the Peshawar vs Sialkot opener at Imran Khan Stadium and FATA vs Multan at the Diamond Ground in Islamabad.
The tournament will feature 10 regional teams, including four qualifiers — FATA, Faisalabad, Karachi Blues, and Multan — from the Hanif Mohammad Trophy, alongside six teams who performed strongly in the previous edition: Abbottabad, Bahawalpur, Peshawar, Sialkot, Lahore Whites, and Islamabad.
Adding a youth development twist, all teams must include at least one U21 player in their playing XI for every match in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2025.
The PCB will also release daily roundups and post-round stat packs to further engage fans and promote domestic cricket’s resurgence.

First Round Fixtures (6–9 October):
Abbottabad vs Bahawalpur – Abbottabad Cricket Stadium
Lahore Whites vs Islamabad – Shoaib Akhtar Cricket Stadium, Rawalpindi
Peshawar vs Sialkot – Imran Khan Stadium, Peshawar (Live-streamed)
FATA vs Multan – Diamond Cricket Ground, Islamabad (Live-streamed)
Faisalabad vs Karachi Blues – Marghzar Cricket Ground, Islamabad
