In a strong appeal highlighting concerns over dwindling crowd presence, Salman Iqbal has called on the government to allow spectators back into stadiums during the ongoing Pakistan Super League season.
Taking to social media, the Karachi Kings owner expressed disappointment over empty stands, emphasizing the emotional and commercial impact of fan absence on the league. He noted that as a founding stakeholder of the PSL, witnessing vacant venues has been particularly disheartening.
Iqbal directly addressed Shehbaz Sharif, urging him to reconsider restrictions and facilitate the return of crowds. He acknowledged that current decisions may be linked to broader concerns such as energy management and public resources, but stressed that cricket thrives on fan engagement.

“Let the people be part of the game again,” he wrote, adding hope that stadiums would soon return to full capacity. His statement reflects a growing sentiment among stakeholders who believe that fan presence is essential not only for atmosphere but also for the league’s financial sustainability.
The PSL, widely regarded as Pakistan’s premier cricket tournament, has played a crucial role in reviving international cricket in the country. However, reduced attendance in recent matches has sparked debate about balancing operational constraints with the spirit of the game.
Authorities have yet to respond officially to the request, but the conversation around fan access is expected to intensify as the tournament progresses.
