PCB Level-I umpiring course concludes in Faisalabad with 61 participants

The Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) Level-I umpiring course concluded successfully at the High-Performance Centre in Faisalabad, as 61 aspiring umpires from the Faisalabad and Sialkot regions participated in the four-day training programme.

Running from Monday, 29 September to Thursday, 2 October, the PCB Level-I umpiring course featured lectures, presentations, and theory-based testing, aimed at inducting amateur umpires into the structured circuit of domestic officiating.

The course was conducted by ICC Elite Panel Umpire Ahsan Raza, Senior Manager Umpires and Referees Bilal Qureshi, and Manager Umpires and Referees Abdul Hameed, providing participants with guidance aligned with international umpiring standards.

Speaking on the occasion, PCB officials reiterated the Board’s commitment to developing umpiring talent at the grassroots level. The PCB Level-I umpiring course is the first official step for aspiring match officials hoping to officiate district and regional level cricket in Pakistan.

Pathway to professional umpiring

Only those participants who qualify in Level-I will be invited to take part in the Level-II Umpiring Course, eventually moving up to elite domestic and national panel selection.

The PCB has been actively holding similar programs across Pakistan as part of its effort to professionalize cricket officiating and ensure quality standards at all levels of the game.
