The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has strongly condemned what it described as “agenda-driven fake news” targeting the character of its players, warning that strict action will be taken against those spreading unverified allegations.

In a statement shared on the board’s official account on X (formerly Twitter), the PCB said that the circulation of false and misleading reports about its cricketers is unacceptable and will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

“Agenda driven fake news targeting the character of our players is unacceptable and will not be tolerated,” the board said in its statement.

The PCB further demanded that the reporter responsible for spreading the claims issue a public apology without delay. The board warned that if the apology is not made promptly, it will initiate necessary steps to ensure such conduct is dealt with firmly.

According to the cricket board, protecting the reputation and dignity of Pakistan’s players remains a priority, and any attempt to malign them through unverified or malicious reporting will be addressed decisively.

The statement comes amid ongoing scrutiny of media reports regarding Pakistan’s ongoing international engagements, with the PCB reiterating its commitment to defending players against baseless accusations.
