KARACHI: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) conducted a focused one-day workshop for regional coaches at the Hanif Mohammad High-Performance Centre in Karachi on Monday, as part of its broader efforts to strengthen coaching development ahead of the 2025–26 domestic cricket season.

The workshop brought together head and assistant coaches from six regions: Dera Murad Jamali, FATA, Karachi, Larkana, Multan, and Rawalpindi. It forms part of PCB’s ongoing coach development initiative, with another session scheduled for Saturday, 20 September at the Inzamam-ul-Haq High-Performance Centre in Multan for the remaining regional coaches.

The one-day workshop for regional coaches in Karachi was led by Shahid Aslam, Head of Coach Education and Development at the National Cricket Academy. He was assisted by Asad Shafiq, member of the Men’s and Women’s Selection Committees and head of the Hanif Mohammad HPC, and Azam Khan, head coach of the HPC.

Structure and content of one-day workshop for regional coaches

The intensive workshop was divided into three modules, each designed to enhance the practical and theoretical knowledge of regional coaches. The curriculum included:

  • Lectures on coaching challenges and pressure management

  • Coaching theories and models

  • Application of technology and data science in coaching

  • A skill-focused practical session

  • A feedback and reflection session

By integrating modern methodologies with practical feedback, the PCB aims to raise the bar for regional coaching talent and ensure uniformity in coaching standards across the country.

Context within the domestic calendar

The PCB has deliberately scheduled the one-day workshop for regional coaches on rest days during the ongoing Hanif Mohammad Trophy, to ensure minimal disruption while keeping the coaches aligned with the performance and training expectations of the 2025–26 domestic season.

The initiative is a continuation of the Board’s high-performance strategy to build capacity at the grassroots and regional levels by equipping coaches with contemporary skills, knowledge, and analytical tools.
