Pat Cummins voices support for Imran Khan, calls for dignity and medical assessment

Australian Test captain Pat Cummins has publicly voiced support for former Pakistan Prime Minister and cricket legend Imran Khan, calling for him to be treated with dignity and given appropriate medical care.

Cummins expressed his views in response to a clip shared by The Grade Cricketer featuring former Australia captain Greg Chappell, who raised concerns about Khan’s current situation and wellbeing.

“Adding my support here to GC and the other former international captains,” Cummins wrote.

“I hope the court ordered medical assessment be allowed to run its course, and that family visits continue. I hope Imran Khan is treated with the dignity anyone deserves.”

Chappell had previously raised concerns about Khan’s isolation and wellbeing, recalling the former Pakistan captain as a strong figure when he met him several years ago.

The development comes after Chappell and 21 other former international cricketers reportedly wrote to Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, urging that Khan be treated humanely and provided with an independent medical assessment and proper medical care.

Cummins’ comments have since drawn attention across cricket and social media, with the Australian captain becoming the latest prominent international cricket figure to speak publicly about Khan’s situation.
