Pakistan’s former national badminton champion Palwasha Bashir added another remarkable achievement to her career by winning the women’s singles title (35+ category) at the prestigious Canadian Masters Badminton Championship.

In a thrilling final, Bashir overcame Canada’s top-seeded shuttler Anna Rice, showcasing her experience and composure to secure the title against a strong field of competitors.

Speaking after her victory, Bashir expressed pride in her performance, highlighting the competitive nature of the tournament, which featured more than 300 players from across the globe. “I am proud to have won the Canadian Masters Championship title,” she said, reflecting on her achievement.

The Karachi-born athlete also made it clear that her transition into the Masters category does not signal the end of her journey in professional badminton. “Competing in the Masters category does not mean my open category career is over,” she stated, underlining her determination to continue competing at the highest levels.

Bashir rose to prominence in Pakistan’s badminton circuit after winning her first national women’s singles and doubles titles in 2009. She went on to represent the country internationally, earning a bronze medal at the South Asian Games 2010 in Dhaka. Her career also includes appearances at the Asian Games 2014 and both the Commonwealth Games 2014 and Commonwealth Games 2018.

Her latest triumph not only reinforces her legacy as one of Pakistan’s accomplished badminton players but also serves as an inspiration for athletes aiming to extend their careers beyond traditional competitive peaks.
