Pakistani father-daughter duo makes history at International Horseback Archery Championship

A Pakistani father-daughter team has achieved a landmark success at the International Horseback Archery Championship in Russia, bringing home top honors and earning international recognition for the country.

Fourteen-year-old Aswa Marjan Niazi claimed the gold medal after finishing first in the global competition, while her father, Sub-Inspector Najeeb Niazi, secured the silver medal with an impressive performance.

The duo’s participation in the championship became possible after they received legal clearance for international travel. Competing against participants from several countries, Aswa stood out with her exceptional display of skill, successfully completing the demanding 90-second hunt track event.

Her outstanding performance also earned her qualification for the upcoming Asian Cup Horseback Archery Championship, scheduled to be held in China.

The achievement is being celebrated as a significant milestone for Pakistan in the growing sport of horseback archery, highlighting the country’s emerging talent on the international stage and inspiring young athletes to pursue excellence in lesser-known disciplines.
