The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced its Team of the Tournament following the conclusion of the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, which ended with hosts India national cricket team defeating New Zealand national cricket team by a dominant 96-run margin in the final.

Four players from the champion Indian side were included in the elite XI, led by Player of the Tournament Sanju Samson. The wicketkeeper-batter was instrumental in India’s title-winning campaign, finishing with 321 runs at an average of 80.25 and an explosive strike rate of 199.37.

Samson’s standout moment came in the final, where he produced a stunning 89-run innings, the highest individual score in a men’s T20 World Cup final, helping India overpower New Zealand and successfully defend their title.

He is joined in the ICC’s Team of the Tournament by fellow Indians Ishan Kishan, Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah. Kishan impressed with 317 runs at a strike rate above 193, while all-rounder Pandya contributed with both bat and ball, scoring 217 runs and taking nine wickets. Bumrah led India’s pace attack brilliantly, claiming 14 wickets at an average of just 12.42.

Pakistan’s opening batter Sahibzada Farhan topped the run charts in the tournament with 383 runs at 76.60, earning the opening spot in the XI. South Africa’s Aiden Markram was named captain of the side after an impressive campaign in which he scored 286 runs while leading his team to the knockout stages.

England’s semi-final run was rewarded with the inclusion of two players: all-rounder Will Jacks and leg-spinner Adil Rashid. Jacks delivered a remarkable all-round performance with 226 runs and nine wickets, while Rashid picked up 13 wickets with his trademark leg-spin.

The bowling unit is further strengthened by Jason Holder, who contributed 10 wickets and useful lower-order runs, along with South Africa’s Lungi Ngidi and Zimbabwe pacer Blessing Muzarabani, both of whom finished among the tournament’s leading wicket-takers.

The ICC’s Team of the Tournament highlights the standout performers from a thrilling global event, with India’s dominant campaign and Samson’s record-breaking performances emerging as the defining story of the 2026 competition.
