Pakistan hockey players unpaid dues spark outrage amid PHF silence
LAHORE: The ongoing issue of Pakistan hockey players unpaid dues has taken a new turn, as national team members have openly voiced frustration with the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) over months of unfulfilled financial commitments and a complete communication breakdown.
According to sources close to the team, several senior players, including the captain, are deeply concerned about the federation's continued silence and are now discussing possible next steps.

“The federation has always misled us. We’ve been given false assurances, and now they’re not even responding,” players reportedly told internal stakeholders. “There’s no one left in PHF who will listen to us.”
The crux of the players’ anger lies in the non-payment of daily allowances related to their participation in recent international and domestic events. Particularly troubling is the fact that players who helped Pakistan secure a silver medal at the FIH Nations Cup in Malaysia still haven’t received their dues.
Each player is owed an estimated PKR 500,000 in unpaid daily allowances, sources confirmed. Despite repeated follow-ups, PHF officials have gone silent, failing to communicate any updates or resolutions.
Even the training camps held in Islamabad earlier this year, organized in two separate phases, have not been compensated. Players are supposed to receive PKR 30,000 per day for international tournaments and PKR 3,000 per day for domestic commitments, but none of these payments have been made.
Captain Steps In
In light of the growing unrest, Pakistan hockey team captain Imad Butt has promised his teammates that he will work to resolve the issue.
“The players are being treated unfairly. I will make sure this issue is brought to light and addressed,” Imad reportedly assured the squad.
This latest development has cast a dark cloud over the morale of the national team, who feel neglected despite their achievements on the international stage.
Broader Crisis in PHF
The Pakistan Hockey Federation is already under fire for administrative issues and funding challenges. This latest controversy over unpaid dues has further damaged its credibility, especially at a time when the team is struggling to regain its lost glory on the global stage.
Unless immediate action is taken, the growing dissatisfaction among players could lead to a boycott or other protest measures, risking Pakistan’s participation in future international events.
