Pakistan crush West Indies to end eight-match away Test losing streak

Pakistan bounced back emphatically to defeat the West Indies by eight wickets in the second Test, ending a miserable run of eight consecutive away Test defeats and leveling the series on a high note.

Chasing a modest target of 75, Pakistan reached 77-2 in 23.3 overs with captain Babar Azam and Abdullah Shafique guiding the visitors home in an unbeaten partnership. Babar remained not out on 24 from 30 deliveries, sealing the victory spectacularly with back-to-back sixes off spinner Jomel Warrican. Shafique also finished unbeaten on 24 after producing a match-winning 160 in the first innings.

Pakistan’s chase suffered an early setback when Imam-ul-Haq was dismissed for nine by Jayden Seales, while debutant Azan Awais scored a composed 18 before falling to Shamar Joseph. However, Babar and Shafique ensured there were no further hiccups.

Earlier, Pakistan’s bowlers wrapped up the West Indies for 117 in their second innings after the hosts resumed Day Four on 103-6. Left-arm spinner Usman starred with four wickets, while Sajid Khan also claimed four to dismantle the batting lineup. Mohammad Ali picked up one wicket as Pakistan’s disciplined bowling attack completed the job in 46.1 overs.

The comprehensive victory gives Pakistan a major confidence boost ahead of their three-Test series against England, which begins on August 19.
