The story of Pakistan cricket in 2025 was defined by results across a demanding international schedule rather than perfection.

During the year, Pakistan played 56 international matches across all three formats. In T20 Internationals, Pakistan featured in 34 matches, winning 21 and losing 13, making it their most successful format of the year. The team secured multiple home series victories and remained competitive throughout the calendar.

In One Day Internationals, Pakistan played 17 matches, winning 7 and losing 10. While there were notable performances including historic run chases and home-series wins, inconsistency, particularly in away conditions, prevented stronger results.

Test cricket continued to pose challenges. Pakistan played five Tests in 2025, winning two and losing three, with the side showing fight but lacking sustained dominance in red-ball cricket.

Beyond the Headlines: Victories That Shaped the Future

While the senior side absorbed scrutiny, Pakistan cricket quietly celebrated success elsewhere.

The Rising Stars Asia Cup victory underlined the strength of Pakistan’s next generation.

The Under-19 Asia Cup triumph reaffirmed that Pakistan’s talent pipeline remains one of the strongest in world cricket.

And the Hong Kong Success Trophy added silverware to a year that, away from the spotlight, was far more productive than it often appeared.

These wins were not just trophies, they were investments in Pakistan cricket’s future.

Salman Ali Agha: The Year’s Most Productive Batter

If one batter symbolised Pakistan’s batting output in 2025, it was Salman Ali Agha.

Across formats, he finished the year as Pakistan’s leading run-scorer, producing runs consistently whenever opportunities came his way. Whether stabilising innings, accelerating when required, or anchoring big chases, Salman Ali Agha became one of Pakistan’s most reliable batting pillars throughout the year.

Agha bagged 1,492 runs playing record-breaking 56 innings throughout the year (the most in the history of cricket by a player in a calendar year)

Babar Azam: Consistency, Unmoved by Noise

Amid constant debate and expectation, Babar Azam once again let numbers speak.

In 2025, Babar crossed the 1,000-run mark bagging 1,028 runs across international cricket, extending a remarkable personal trend finishing yet another calendar year among Pakistan’s most consistent performers. His runs did not always come in clusters, but they came with regularity, responsibility, and composure.

In a year of transition, Babar remained Pakistan’s constant.

The ODI Bowlers Who Set the Tone

In the 50-over format, Pakistan’s bowling attack found its leaders in Abrar Ahmed and Naseem Shah.

Both finished the year as Pakistan’s joint leading wicket-takers in ODIs, with 18 wickets each. One relied on mystery and control, the other on pace and penetration, together forming the backbone of Pakistan’s limited-overs bowling plans.

Their performances ensured Pakistan remained competitive even when batting faltered.

What 2025 Ultimately Meant

2025 will not be remembered as Pakistan cricket’s most dominant year but it may be remembered as one of its most important.

A year where youth delivered.

A year where experience endured.

A year where results fluctuated, but direction slowly emerged.

Pakistan cricket did not stand still in 2025. It evolved quietly, imperfectly, but purposefully.

And sometimes, that is how the strongest foundations are laid.
