Pakistan women’s cricket stalwart Nida Dar has announced her return to professional cricket, ending an indefinite break from the game that began in April 2025.
The 39-year-old all-rounder revealed the news through a social media post, expressing her readiness to represent Pakistan once again after taking time away from the sport to focus on her mental well-being.

“After taking time to focus on myself and regain my strength, I am happy to share that I am back and available for the Pakistan Cricket Team once again,” Dar wrote. “Ready to give my best, work hard, and contribute whenever the team needs me. Thank you to everyone who supported me during this journey.”
Dar stepped away from cricket in April 2025, citing mental health reasons and prioritizing her personal well-being. Her last appearance for Pakistan came during the 2024 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in the UAE. Following the tournament, she was omitted from the Pakistan Cricket Board’s central contracts list.
One of the most accomplished players in Pakistan women’s cricket history, Dar has represented the national side in 112 One-Day Internationals and 160 T20 Internationals. She also served as Pakistan captain after succeeding Bismah Maroof following the 2023 Women’s T20 World Cup. Ahead of the 2024 edition, the captaincy was handed to Fatima Sana, who currently leads the team.
Dar’s return brings a wealth of experience to Pakistan’s setup. She remains the country’s leading wicket-taker in women’s T20 Internationals with 144 wickets and is among the most successful bowlers in women’s ODI cricket, having claimed 108 wickets. Only Sana Mir and Nashra Sandhu have taken more ODI wickets for Pakistan.
Her comeback is expected to provide a significant boost to Pakistan women’s cricket as the team continues preparations for upcoming international assignments.
