Veteran Pakistani pacer Mohammad Abbas has now surpassed Imran Khan and equalled Waqar Younis in domestic cricket history after delivering a stunning 10-wicket haul in the ongoing Quaid-e-Azam Trophy. Mohammad Abbas continues to etch his name in domestic cricket history with another masterclass in seam bowling. Representing Lahore Whites, the seasoned pacer produced match figures of 10 wickets for 83 runs against Multan at the Marghazar Cricket Ground in Islamabad.
Abbas dismantled Multan’s batting line-up across both innings, finishing with 5-wicket hauls in each. His outstanding bowling performance not only earned him the Player of the Match award but also pushed him into elite company in Pakistan's cricketing annals.
With this performance, Abbas:
Broke Imran Khan’s domestic record of 13 ten-wicket match hauls,
Equalled Waqar Younis’ record of 14 such feats, and
Now stands just two 10-wicket match hauls away from Wasim Akram’s all-time domestic record of 16.
Abbas’ relentless accuracy and movement off the pitch proved too much for Multan, who were bowled out for just 164 in their first innings. Lahore Whites, capitalizing on his heroics, ended the day with a strong grip on the match.
His consistency and dedication to domestic cricket, despite limited international appearances in recent years, continue to highlight his value as one of the most reliable red-ball bowlers in Pakistan’s cricket structure.
Cricket fans and experts alike have hailed Abbas’ achievement, calling it a testament to his longevity and class in the longer format.
