Pakistan’s head coach Aaqib Javed has called for patience and stability in the country’s cricket structure, saying frequent changes in leadership and management have been one of the biggest setbacks for Pakistan national cricket team.

Speaking about the reaction that follows tournament defeats, Javed said that criticism and calls for accountability have become routine whenever Pakistan fails to win a major event.

“For a long time this has been happening in our country. Whenever our team loses a tournament, people immediately start talking about accountability,” Javed said. “There are demands for scrutiny, players to be dropped, and major changes within the team.”

He explained that the trend intensified after Pakistan’s recent global tournaments, with similar reactions emerging after the ICC Cricket World Cup, the ICC Champions Trophy, and the Asia Cup.

According to the head coach, such responses often lead to drastic structural changes, including replacing captains, coaches, selectors, and even the chairman of the board.

“Whenever we lose, protests begin and people start demanding that the entire team be changed,” he said. “They want the captain replaced, the coach replaced, the selectors replaced, and sometimes even the chairman replaced.”

Javed stressed that this cycle of constant restructuring has resulted in significant injustices within Pakistan cricket and has disrupted the team’s long-term development.

“In my opinion, one of the biggest mistakes in Pakistan cricket has been the continuous changes from the top management downwards,” he added.

The former fast bowler also pointed out that when Pakistan’s system is compared with other international teams, the difference becomes clear.

“If you place Pakistan cricket’s model on one side and compare it with the rest of the world on the other, I don’t think any other team has made as many changes as we have,” Javed said.

Javed concluded by emphasizing that stability and long-term planning are essential if Pakistan wants to compete consistently with the world’s top cricketing nations.
