Wicketkeeper-batter Haseebullah Khan has responded with maturity and optimism after being left out of Pakistan’s national setup, saying he is choosing to view the situation as a positive rather than a setback.
Speaking during the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL 11), Haseebullah highlighted a key concern shared by many players on the fringes of selection — the lack of consistent opportunities. He pointed out that being given a single match and then sidelined for long periods can create uncertainty and self-doubt, regardless of a player’s stature.
“Every player needs a proper run of chances to build confidence and truly showcase their talent,” he said, stressing that continuity is crucial for performance at the highest level.
Despite his disappointment, Haseebullah was full of praise for the environment within the Lahore Qalandars camp. He credited the team management and senior players for creating a supportive atmosphere that allows individuals to play with freedom and express themselves.
He specifically acknowledged the backing of captain Fakhar Zaman and senior teammate Haris Rauf, noting that their encouragement has helped him settle into his role within the side.
“The message here is simple: play freely, back yourself, and the team will stand by you,” Haseebullah shared, underlining the trust he has received since joining the franchise.
Calling it an honour to be part of such a high-profile setup, the young cricketer expressed gratitude towards the franchise for showing faith in his abilities. His remarks reflect both resilience and a clear desire for stability — something he hopes will eventually translate into consistent opportunities at the international level.
As PSL 11 progresses, Haseebullah now has a valuable platform to strengthen his case for national selection, backed by a franchise environment that appears to be bringing out the best in him.
