FAB THREE dropped as Farhan named the new T20I captain of Pakistan

Lahore, 5 October 2026: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the squads for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka and the seven-match ODI tri-series featuring England and Sri Lanka, with Babar Azam making his return to the ODI setup.
Right-handed opener Sahibzada Farhan has been appointed captain for the three-match T20I series, while left-arm pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi will continue to lead the ODI side in the tri-series.
The T20I series against Sri Lanka will be played at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, with the first match scheduled for 9 October, followed by the second and third T20Is on 11 and 13 October.
Farhan, who recently led Pakistan at the Asian Games, will captain a 15-member T20I squad that includes Fakhar Zaman, Saim Ayub, Shadab Khan, Naseem Shah, Razaullah and
Sufiyan Moqim.
The major highlight of the ODI squad is the return of Babar Azam, who has been named alongside Fakhar Zaman, Saim Ayub, Salman Ali Agha, Shadab Khan and Shaheen Afridi. The 16-member squad also includes young players such as Hasan Nawaz, Razaullah and Saad Baig.
Pakistan will then compete in a seven-match ODI tri-series against England and Sri Lanka. Rawalpindi will host the opening three matches before the tournament shifts to Lahore for the remaining league fixtures and the final.
Mike Hesson will continue as head coach, with Shaun Tait serving as bowling coach and Michael Smith as batting coach. Mansoor Amjad has been appointed fielding coach, while Naveed Akram Cheema will serve as team manager.
