The Multan Sultans have officially appointed Australian all-rounder Ashton Turner as their new captain ahead of the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 11, marking a new chapter for the franchise as it prepares for the tournament starting later this month.
Turner arrives with a strong leadership reputation in T20 cricket. The 33-year-old recently guided the Perth Scorchers to multiple Big Bash League (BBL) triumphs, earning recognition as one of the most tactically sharp captains in the format. His experience in high-pressure T20 competitions around the world—including the BBL, IPL, CPL, and The Hundred—was a key factor behind Multan’s decision to hand him the leadership role.
The appointment comes after a successful captaincy era led by Pakistan’s wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan, who previously captained the Sultans in 58 matches and guided them to their maiden PSL title in 2021.
Multan Sultans management expressed confidence that Turner’s calm leadership and aggressive middle-order batting will help the team maintain its competitive edge in the league. The franchise, known for its consistent performances in recent PSL seasons, hopes Turner can replicate his championship success from Australia on Pakistani soil.
Speaking about the new responsibility, Turner is expected to bring a fearless brand of cricket and a fresh tactical approach as the Sultans aim to challenge for another PSL trophy. With international stars and emerging Pakistani talent in the squad, expectations are high that the Australian skipper can turn potential into silverware.
Proven leader. Proven champion. Now, it’s time to make it happen in Multan.
