Young Pakistani fast bowler Ali Raza has opened up about his journey, international praise, and future aspirations in a candid interview, responding to recent comments made by legendary West Indian commentator and former fast bowler Ian Bishop.

“It’s a great honour for me that such a big legend and commentator praised me,” said Ali. “It makes me happy, and I just want to prove his words right by giving my best for my team and my country.”
Ali Raza, who hails from Sheikhupura, a city known for producing pacers like Aaqib Javed, Rana Naveed-ul-Hasan, and Mohammad Asif, emphasized that he wants to create his own identity rather than follow a single bowler’s path.
“Every bowler has their own style. Shoaib Akhtar, Waqar Younis, and others have inspired many, but I want to become a proper bowler with my own identity.”
Ali was recently part of a training camp and is working hard to address his technical shortcomings. He credits the camp and support from Peshawar Zalmi and Babar Azam for his growing confidence.
“Babar Bhai appreciated me when I got hit for runs. He backed me, told me ‘you are good, stay here,’ and that kind of support means a lot. When your captain and your team believe in you, your confidence goes up, and you try your best.”
Speaking about his development, Ali revealed he was one of three bowlers (along with Zeeshan and Rubaish) who were sent to Loughborough University in England as part of a PCB-sponsored program. The initiative was designed to help emerging pacers increase their fitness, strength, and speed.
“People say I started fast bowling early. Yes, I’m protecting my body and aiming to go beyond 150 km/h, hopefully even closer to 160. That’s my goal,” Ali shared.
When asked how he handles criticism or rumors about injuries, Ali responded calmly:
“I don’t want to get involved in such things. I’m doing everything—fielding, bowling, batting—and I just want to focus on giving my best wherever I play.”
Ali Raza also touched on the impact of foreign coaching in Pakistan's system and how camps have helped him learn and evolve technically.
As Pakistan continues its search for the next generation of fast bowling stars, Ali Raza appears ready to answer the call—with speed, heart, and his own unique style.
