Keeping the captaincy seat warm for Shadab Khan, Agha captain’s performance says it all. The Agha captaincy criticism continues to intensify.
Pakistan’s T20I captain Salman Ali Agha is facing serious criticism after another run of poor performances with the bat. Since the Asia Cup, Agha has played 11 T20I innings, scoring only 108 runs at an average of 10.8 and a strike rate of 86, numbers far below what is expected from a modern T20 batter.
Agha comes in at number 4, a crucial position where teams expect stability, rotation of strike, and the ability to accelerate. But instead of controlling the innings, his slow scoring rate often puts pressure on the rest of the batting lineup. Many fans believe his style does not suit T20 cricket, and his continued failures are hurting Pakistan in key moments.
Another concern is Agha’s attitude toward his own batting flaws. He has not shown the urgency or awareness needed to improve his strike rotation, shot selection, or intent. This is affecting not only his own career but also blocking opportunities for youngsters.
One of the biggest victims of this situation is Hassan Nawaz, a highly talented young top-order batter. With Agha holding the number 4 spot despite repeated failures, Hassan is being pushed down the order or benched entirely. Experts fear that this could slow down Hassan’s development at a crucial stage of his career.
With the T20 World Cup cycle approaching, the pressure on Agha is increasing. Many believe he is simply keeping the captaincy seat warm for Shadab Khan, who remains the more natural T20 leader with stronger batting impact and tactical awareness.
Unless Agha quickly improves both his form and his approach, Pakistan’s selectors may have no choice but to make a change for the team’s sake and for the future of young talents waiting for their chance.
